Saving Brisbane Airport:

Weekly Digest of Team Journey

________________________________________________

"Ever had to repack your luggage in an airport because of airline weight limits? Felt embarrassed throwing all of your life onto the floor in the middle of an airport?

Luggage Scales will make it easy and convenient!"

This is the concept we’ve been working on primarily this week.
And here is how we got there:
  •  Made 2 trips to the airport, with 50+ photos covering insights into how people deal  with luggage
  • Observed travellers during the busiest morning times
  • “Pivoted” our concept from Automatic Luggage Drop into Luggage Scales
  •  Held group meetings with Tom, Olena, Chad and Nicholas almost fighting over the  concept idea

Nicholas passionately justifying his point of view regarding a concept

Olena listening intently

Following this... A few busy evenings with Tom polishing the concepts and Olena playing with the luggage to test the Scales. And our prototype is ready for a show :)

Our concept cards from the previous week have been further developed and polished. We hope to maintain consecutive concept cards within this template to ensure ease of use.

Work in progress:

Olena came up with a concept for improving luggage check-in
processes. This could alleviate queue waiting times.

Olena came up with a concept for helping passengers sort through
overweight luggage cases.

Chad came up with a modification concept for the luggage reclaim
conveyor belt to help with heavy luggage retrieval.

Thomas came up with this concept for a new trolley design that
aims to improve ergonomics and luggage reclaim processes.

Nicholas came up with this concept to improve house
passengers interact with bathroom facilities.

Our first persona profile is 'George'
And yes! We’re ready for new challenges coming over the next week!
Have questions or would like to share your ideas - feel free to leave a message. We love feedback. Any kind of it :)

Saving Brisbane Airport:

Brainstorm

________________________________________________

Week 3 was a great week for the Airport Saviour team. Our weekly meeting on Wednesday allowed us to follow up on the work week after week 2’s brainstorm session (pictured above). The brainstorm sessions left us with a set of focus problems to research and assist us in the feasibility of those problems if they were to evolve into potential concepts.

Research involved, but not limited to Testimonial articles from Google Reviews and Yelp. First hand experiences by members of the team and one on one question time with people who are directly impacted by the Airport industry.

Post-it notes!

Project Charter submitted

This week also saw us agree on, sign and submit our project charter which outlines what will be included in this blog plus a lot more. Included below is our project timeline that we would like to adhere to for the duration of the project. The timeline is a combination of empathising, defining, ideation, prototyping and testing stages. We aim to work within this framework between now and the final presentation. The timeline does factor in a break period within the academic timetable, but it is for reference only.
